August 4, 2005 | 3:00 PM | LASR Conference Room | Special seminar How Secular Evolution Shapes Disk Galaxies Victor Debattista, University of Washington
Disk galaxies are shaped not only by hierarchical growth but also by internal secular evolution. This secular evolution can produce a variety of structures seen in disk galaxies, including central bulge-like concentrations, peanuts and outer truncations. I review results from an ongoing simulation campaign exploring secular evolution and its effects on disks.
